Assam Rifles conducts security meetings, career lecture, other activities
DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles organised a security coordination meeting at Sheanghah Chingnyu, Mon district, on December 28.
The village authorities of Sheanghah Chingnyu, Sheanghah Mokok, Sheanghah Wamsa, Sheanghah Tangten, Sheanghah Lokyo, and Nyahnyu attended the meeting.
The meeting’s main agenda was to review the current security situation in the villages and to foster cordial relations between the Assam Rifles and the general public.
During the meeting, the locals assured their support for the security forces in maintaining peace and harmony and pledged to curb any illegal activities.
Similarly, on December 29, the Assam Rifles held a security meeting and awareness session with village council members from Ziphu and surrounding villages at Ziphu, Phek district. The meeting was attended by village council chairmen, village guards, and pastors from neighbouring villages.
It was held to discuss security issues along the Indo-Myanmar border, during which the leaders also promised to fully cooperate with the Assam Rifles.
National integration tour
For students from the districts of Dimapur, Nuiland, and Peren, the Assam Rifles organised a national integration tour (NIT) to the 24th Rashtra Katha Shivir in Rajkot, Gujarat.
The tour aimed to instill in the youth a sense of national unity and understanding. During the tour, students had the opportunity to visit India Gate, the National War Memorial, and the towns of Rajkot and Porbandar.
The Rashtra Katha Shivir was organised from December 17 to December 24 and included 10 students and one teacher each from Vidhya Bhawan Higher Secondary School in Dimapur and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Nuiland and Peren districts.
The students had the opportunity to listen to prominent personalities from the armed forces, civil administration, scientists, paramilitary forces, and political figures at the shivir, and they were enlightened about national integrity and unity.
The tour was flagged off from Kashiram Basti, Dimapur, on December 13 and returned on December 28.
On this occasion, the students shared their tour experiences and fond memories. The welcome ceremony was also attended by 22 gaon buras.
Lecture on career in armed forces
On December 29, the Assam Rifles held an awareness lecture on ‘Career in Armed Forces’ at the Akhegwo town community hall near the Indo-Myanmar border in Kiphire district.
The event aimed to inform students about the various job opportunities available in the armed forces, as well as the selection and joining procedures for various entry schemes.
All aspects were thoroughly discussed, including eligibility, selection criteria, written examinations, future prospects, and amenities provided by the central government to armed forces personnel and their families. The lecture was attended by about 120 boys and girls.
At the end of the session, a brief question-and-answer session was held to address attendees’ questions. A pamphlet was also handed over to the chairman of the Akhegwo Student Union, allowing interested students to explore various entry schemes and apply accordingly.
Friendly volleyball match
Meanwhile, on December 29, the paramilitary force held a friendly volleyball match with the youth of Chizami Village, Phek district, in order to maintain friendly relations with the village’s youth.
