Assam Rifles conducts medical camps, organises volleyball match

DIMAPUR — Commemorating World Health Day, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland (IRCSN) and the Naga Hospital Authority, organised a blood donation and medical camp on Saturday at New Ministers’ Hill in Kohima.

According to an update, medical professionals from the Assam Rifles, IRCSN, and Naga Hospital provided free consultations and essential medications to all attendees. Furthermore, informative sessions were conducted to educate the public on various health-related topics, promoting healthy lifestyle practices.

A total of 61 individuals donated blood on the occasion, while 124 individuals took advantage of the medical camp services.

Medical camp in Kiphire

Assam Rifles organised a free medical camp in the Indo-Myanmar border village of Hakkomute in the Kiphire district to address the healthcare needs of the villagers.

A total of 43 individuals, comprising 14 men, 21 women, and eight children, benefited from the medical camp and received essential healthcare services.

“The effort was met with gratitude and appreciation from the village appointees, who expressed their heartfelt thanks for the thoughtful and much-needed support,” it said.

Friendly volleyball match

The Assam Rifles organised a friendly volleyball match between a local girls’ team and the Rifle Women’s team of the Assam Rifles at Athibung, Peren district.

The event aimed to promote gender equality and foster a sense of unity and teamwork among the youth, particularly the young girls in the region and provided a platform for the local girls to interact with and learn from the experienced members of the Rifle Women’s team.

Following the match, a motivational lecture was delivered, emphasising the importance of women’s participation in the armed forces and highlighting the opportunities available for them to serve their nation with pride and honour.
