Assam Rifles conducts awareness lectures

Dimapur, Dec. 7 (EMN): Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles organised an awareness lecture for the teachers from various schools of Kohima on December 4 at Kohima Garrison on the theme ‘Child abuse.’

A defence release stated that in the lecture, Puja covered the alarming rate at which child abuse is growing and how social media has given unhindered access to children and students to engage in the actions which have far reaching consequence hampering positive growth of a child from their tender age.

The lecture also covered crucial role of parents and teachers in curbing rise of child abuse by way of constant communication with children and students about the sanctity of the body parts and the various forms of child abuse.

The lecture was followed with queries from the teachers in attendance and interaction. Altogether, 65 teachers attended the lecture.

In a similar programme, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on ‘Hygiene and sanitation’ at Bethel and Khodi Orphanage in Tuensang town on December 2 under ‘Swachta Pakhwara.’

The aim of the lecture, according to a defence release, was to spread awareness among the students regarding the benefits of leading healthy lifestyle. The need for hygiene and sanitation to keep common disease from spreading was emphasised upon during the lecture.

Meanwhile, Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles celebrated advent Christmas in Kiphire town on December 1. The event started with an opening prayer followed by Christmas carol singing and devotional. The devotional service was attended by 25 residents of Kiphire town namely Rev. Fr. Dr. Joe Mariadhas of Layola High School, members from Kiphire Sumi Baptist Church and children from Shalom Home (Orphanage). The church service ended with a cake cutting ceremony.
