DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles conducted various activities, including interaction programmes, plantation drives, and security coordination meetings, across multiple districts in Nagaland in recent days.
Interaction programme: The Shamator Battalion organised an interaction programme with the deputy commissioner of Noklak in coordination with the 25 Naga Battalion National Cadet Corps under the aegis of the Vibrant Village Programme.
The initiative aimed at enhancing awareness among National Cadet Corps cadets about governance, development initiatives, and the role of administration in remote border areas, stated an update.
As part of the programme, cadets were also taken on an educational visit to Choklangan village, where they interacted with villagers and members of the community.
Plantation drive: The Assam Rifles organised a plantation drive on April 30 across the villages of Mimi, Betang, Khongkha, and Hakkomute in the Kiphire district under its civic action programme.

The drive witnessed participation from approximately 70 villagers, including children, youth, and elders. During the programme, saplings were planted at designated locations across the villages.
Labour Day: The Assam Rifles observed Labour Day at the Assam Rifles Public School in Phek on April 30 with the participation of 56 students and eight teachers.
Kindergarten students participated in a themed activity where they were dressed as community helpers, showcasing various professions such as soldiers, teachers, healthcare workers, and sanitation staff. In another segment, students prepared handmade cards and presented them to the school’s ayah. A debate competition was also conducted for senior students on the topic "Will technology create more jobs or destroy the livelihoods of working Indians".
Pre-recruitment training: The Assam Rifles has commenced a specialised two-week pre-recruitment training programme for the local youth of Peren district in Jalukie.
This initiative is tailored to equip young aspirants with the skills and confidence required to excel in the upcoming Agniveer recruitment rallies. The training programme focuses on written examinations, physical fitness tests, and medical examinations. A total of 33 aspirants, including 30 boys and three girls, have stepped forward to undergo this training.
Essay writing competition: The Assam Rifles organised an essay writing competition at Chandmari Higher Secondary School in Kohima on May 2 to commemorate the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor.
The competition was held on the theme "Role of youth against terrorism", wherein students shared perspectives on the responsibilities of the younger generation in countering terrorism and fostering peace.
Mass yoga: As part of the celebrations leading up to the 12th International Day of Yoga 2026, the Assam Rifles organised a mass yoga demonstration by Brahma Kumaris at the Motivational Hall in Kohima on May 2 for troops.
The programme aimed to create awareness of the importance of yoga in enhancing endurance, reducing stress, and improving overall health among personnel. The programme included breathing exercises and meditation.
Security coordination meeting: The Assam Rifles organised a security coordination meeting in Kohima on May 1 with the gaon burahs and chairmen of villages under the area of responsibility.
The meeting aimed at enhancing coordination and strengthening cooperation between the security forces and village authorities to ensure effective security management in the region.
In view of the forthcoming monsoon season, discussions were also held on preparedness measures, response mechanisms, and village-level readiness to effectively deal with adverse weather conditions.
