Dimapur, June 19 (EMN): Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) continue to extend a helping hand to the administration, communities and individuals in the state.
To support the civil administration in the management of the Covid-19 pandemic, Assam Rifles Kiphire unit provided transport facility for conveyance of returnees to Pungro on June 18 for home quarantine, stated an update on Friday.
The troops transported 13 Chennai returnees who had completed their institutional quarantine from Kohima and Kiphire.
In an another event, the unit battalion on receiving an information from village organisations about a critically ill patient from the border village of Tukhinkiu in Tuensang, rushed to the village along with medical staff from COB Thongsonyu and attended the patient.
In a separate activity, the Dimapur battalion distributed 200 umbrellas to elderly people, daily wage earners and students of Special Child School Kingsland, keeping in mind the onset of monsoon season.
Also, on June 18, troops of Shamator battalion on learning about a fire incident in Noklak village, rushed to the site with fire extinguishers and water bowser and doused off the fire. With considerable loss to the occupants, the battalion also provided basic essentials.
