In a major operation conducted in Aokum village on October 13, 31 Assam Rifles apprehended one weapon manufacturer named Makam Aokum village.
The accused was running an illegal weapon making facility and supplying weapons to NSCN factions. On a specific input, a well-planned cordon and search operation was launched which resulted in busting of the illegal arms making facility. Two rifles, a variety of ammunition and weapon making tools were recovered by Assam Rifles from the site. The AR hoped that the busting of the facility would give a serious blow to the nefarious designs of persons trying to disturb the prevailing peaceful environment in the State.Meanwhile, based on specific information about the presence of unauthorised weapons in a house in general area Duncan Basti, Dimapur, troops of 29 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles launched a search operation and apprehended one arms peddler alongwith one 9 mm Pistol on October 14. The individual has been identified as Rujal Chodhary, 25, r/o Bahadurpur Karimganj, Assam. The apprehended individual alongwith recovered weapon was handed over to East Police Station, Dimapur.
In an another incident on october 15, troops of 37 Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 6 Sector Assam Rifles, launched a search operation based on specific information about the presence of unauthorised weapons in a house in Ward No 7, Chumukedima. During the operation one pt 22 Rifle and 10 rounds live ammunition were recovered from the house. The house owner is identified as Avi Zuyie, 48, r/o Ward No 7, Chumukedima. The apprehended individual alongwith recovered items was handed over to Diphupar Police Station, Dimapur.
