Assam Rifles apprehends cadres, celebrates World Health Day

DIMAPUR — Acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of a cadre affiliated with the Niki Sumi-led NSCN in the general area of Project Colony, Zunheboto, the Assam Rifles launched a special joint operation on April 6 and apprehended one individual.

According to a press release, the apprehended cadre was carrying out extortion and was in possession of a country made .32mm pistol. The cadre, along with the recovered store, has been handed over to the Zunheboto Police Station.

In a similar operation in Arunachal Pradesh on the same day, acting on specific intelligence regarding the presence of a cadre in the general area of Kharsang, Changlang district, Assam Rifles launched a special operation and apprehended one cadre of NSCN (K-YA) with a .32 pistol and ammunition.

The apprehended cadre and the recovered weapon along with ammunition have been handed over to the Police.

Celebrates ‘World Health Day’

Dimapur Battalion, Assam Rifles, under the aegis of IGAR (N) , along with Can Youth and Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre, celebrated World Health Day on Sunday by distributing nutritional supplements at Neistao Colony and Namgalong Colony in Dimapur.

The programmes commenced with lectures on health and hygiene by a medical officer from the Regional Ayurvedic Research Centre, Dimapur, as mentioned in the release. These were followed by the distribution of various nutritional supplements to the children.

The events saw the participation of about 100 children.
