Assam police seizes heroin

Diphu, March 9 (EMN):
In another major seizure, Karbi Anglong police recovered 40 soap cases packed with suspected heroin on Monday evening.

Sources informed that the police tried to stop a car last evening at around 10 pm which speeded away towards Manja. After being informed, personnel from Manja police station found an abandoned Eco Sport car at Hojainala.

While searching the car, police found 40 soap cases packed with suspected heroin weighing 492 grams with a market value of INR 60 lakh.

The contraband was taken into custody in the morning by DSP Nahid Karishma in presence of the OC of Manja police station, Jitumoni Deka.

It was suspected that the contraband was brought from Manipur and meant for consumption in Assam.
