Diphu, March 3 (EMN): With the enforcement of election model code of conduct in view of ensuing Assam assembly election, sleuth of State Surveillance Team (SST) recovered cash amounting INT 2,50,000 from person during routine vehicle checking at Dillai check gate in Karbi Anglong on March 3.
The arrested person has been identified as Md Mainul Islam (45), resident of Koloni Jalah under Juria police station of Nagaon. He was arrested while travelling in a bus from Dimapur to Nagaon.
It may be mentioned that as per the election guidelines, a person carrying cash above INR 50,000 have to show valid documents.
In a separate incident, Diphu police led by DSP Nahid Karishma arrested one youth with a Chinese grenade. The detained youth has been identified as one Pinak Sutradhar (42) alias Biju Sutradhar of Diphu, Railway Colony.
It was suspected that the grenade was meant to be exploded at Diphu Railway Station. It is also suspected that the youth is a cadre of Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA).
Police sources informed that further investigations are going on in this regard.
