Assam-Nagaland cultural fair to push peace along border

[dropcap]A [/dropcap]cultural exchange is already being planned for the communities of Assam and Nagaland by the government of Assam as a part of an outreach. The event is scheduled to be staged later this month for district communities of both the states along the Assam-Nagaland border, it was informed on Staurday.
The event was announced during a recent meeting of Mokokchung district’s developmental agency, the Mokokchung District Planning and Development Board (DPDB). The meeting of the board was conducted on Saturday, February 7.
Deputy Commissioner of the district and vice-chairman of the development board, Sushil Kumar Patel, presided over the meeting.In the meeting, Sushil Kumar Patel elaborated the guidelines for the vigilance and monitoring committees. The members of the board also discussed a cultural program to be staged for Assam and Nagaland. As a part of Assam government’s outreach program in the border districts between Assam and Nagaland, a cultural exchange between Sivasagar (in Assam) and Mokokchung (in Nagaland) districts has been scheduled. The event would be staged in Haluading on February 20.
In this connection the deputy commissioner of Mokokchung informed departments of the state that would be interested in opening an exhibition stall, as well as cultural troupes who wish to attend, to make known their interest to the deputy commissioner’s office. They are to inform the district’s administrator before February 10.
The members of the board also discussed various agenda including issues about a training program on flood disaster management scheduled for later this month. The event is scheduled to be conducted in Delhi from February 23 till the 27th of the month.
The deputy commissioner informed the departments in concern to nominate a person as a representative to attend the training program. The department in concern has been asked to submit the proposal to the deputy commissioner by the 16th of February. In other matters, an agenda for setting up urban stations for two areas in Mokokchung and a change in the constitution of a district agency were approved during the meeting. The developmental board has approved the proposal for the constitution of an urban station committee in Chuchuyimlang and Tsudikong town in the district. Likewise, the board has approved the proposal for re-inclusion of aims and objectives of the Nagaland Ecological & Sanitation Management Society.
