Dimapur, Nov. 20 (EMN): The Dimapur Naga Students’ Union (DNSU) and the Karbi Students’ Association (KSA) held a meeting on Friday at Rains Hotel in Khatkhati, Assam, to discuss the ongoing border issues between the state of Nagaland and Assam.

Speaking to Eastern Mirror, DNSU president, Sedevilie Angami said the two student bodies decided to ask their respective state governments to give more importance to the border dispute and be pro-active.

“Out of this dispute, we do not want any unfortunate incident to occur,” he said, adding that their main objective is to make sure that there is peaceful co-existence between the Nagas and the Karbis. He maintained that the meeting was fruitful.

The DNSU will have a meeting with its constituent units and discuss how to go about in their dealings and discussions with the state government, he informed.

After the meeting on Friday, the DNSU and the KSA issued a joint press release stating that both the student bodies strongly appeal to the governments of Assam and Nagaland and the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council to take up the border issue with paramount concern.

They also warned of ‘strong action’ if anyone is caught ‘trying to instigate the situation or issue for their personal gain’.
