Mokokchung, July 29 (EMN): There was tension along the Nagaland-Assam border in Tzürangkong range under Mokokchung district on Thursday after the Assam Police were in the process of erecting more camps in Aosenden jurisdiction.

Upon receiving information about the new development from Aosenden Village Council, the Border Magistrate Tzürangkong along with SDPO Mangkolemba and Aosenden Village Council visited the spot and verified it in the presence of SDPO Titabar and OC Mariani, Assam on Thursday.

It was informed that a bunker had already been set up on the hilltop and fresh materials for erecting makeshift camp were seen at the spot during the verification.

The Aosenden Village Council had expressed their displeasure to the officials over the setting up of the camp by the Assam Police and requested the Nagaland government to take up the matter with its counterpart for withdrawal of the police forces at the earliest.

It may be mentioned that tension erupted between Nagaland and Assam over border dispute in November 2020 and the stalemate still remains.
