Ashish Bansal has taken charge as General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway, overseeing major rail projects.

DIMAPUR — Ashish Bansal of the Indian Railway Service of Engineers has taken charge as the General Manager of the Construction Organisation of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR).
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the NFR said Bansal, a 1989 UPSC batch officer, will oversee all railway construction activities within the NFR jurisdiction covering the northeastern states, including Sikkim and parts of West Bengal and Bihar.

Before assuming the post, he served as Principal Executive Director (Track Modernisation and Machines) in the Ministry of Railways from March 2023. Since joining the Indian Railway Service in January 1991, he has worked in track maintenance, bridge engineering, metro construction and policy roles across railway zones, the Railway Board, RDSO and DMRC.
He has also served as Divisional Railway Manager of Dhanbad Division under East Central Railway and as Chairman and Managing Director of IRCON International Limited.
The release stated that in his previous assignments he was associated with track modernisation initiatives, development of maintenance guidelines and improvement of track performance systems, along with expansion of track machinery procurement.
