Ashas trained in paediatric care at Kohima, Wokha

Ashas of Wokha sadar and NUHM during the training on paediatric care in Covid-19 and psychological wellness at CMO Conference hall in Wokha on Monday.

Dimapur, Aug. 23 (EMN):  Chief Medical Officer, Kohima along with District Health Society, NHM, Department of Health and Family Welfare conducted one day training for Urban Accredited Social Health Activists (Ashas) on paediatric care in Covid-19 at PMTI hall on Monday.

An update stated that Ashas were important persons for reaching the grassroots or to reach out at the community level. The training major components were preparedness and management of neonates of Covid-19. In the training, it stated that Ashas were taught on the preparedness and management of any sudden surge of Covid-19 care. They were also trained on the danger signs, surveillance, signs and symptoms of Covid in paediatric age groups, and prevailing myths of Covid-19 in children.  Ashas were also informed about the roles and responsibilities in the ward, colonies and community. The Urban Ashass were trained by Urban Consultant Subonglemla Jamir and DCM Rokoseno Thapo.

Meanwhile, a training on paediatric care in Covid-19 and psychological wellness was also organised by the Health department for NUHM and Wokha sadar Ashass at CMO Conference hall, Wokha on Monday. Dr. Zuben Kikon, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Wokha welcomed the participants and highlighted the vulnerability of children to the delta variant of Covid-19 during the third wave. Dr. Kikon emphasised on good nutrition for children to boost the immune system and also noted the need to avoid exposing children to the disease at crowded public spaces.

“Vaccination of age appropriate groups is the key to control the spread,” he concluded. The sessions were taken by District Community Mobiliser Echungbeni Tsanglao and Block Asha Coordinator Mhonlumi Kithan.

Topics on care for mother and neonates baby born with Covid-19, checklist for surveillance and monitoring by ANM and Ashas and IMNCI approach to a pediatric case were taken during the one-day training programme. DCM Echungbeni informed that similar trainings will be held in other blocks across the district till Friday for all the Ashas, it informed.
