Asetkong public told to exploit politics for economic growth
MOKOKCHUNG — Advisor of Law and Justice and Land Revenue, TN Mannen, on Wednesday called upon the public of Asetkong range in Mokokchung district to exploit politics as a tool for bringing development and economic growth.
Mannen stated this during an economic seminar conducted for the Asetkong range held at Asetkong Senden Salang under Kobulong sub-division of Mokokchung district, organised by the Think Tank Committee.
Mannen, who was the resource speaker of the event, observed that for many years Asetkong has been dragged into a quagmire of negative politics between villages which has stirred up the range into a major setback in development and growth in many aspects. Describing development as a process of change with growth in both social and economic, he stated that the Think Tank Committee was formed to source out new ideas and research for the economic prospect of Asetkong range.
He appealed to the people of the range to leave behind the negative politics but to unite and exploit politics as a tool for bringing development and economic growth to the range.
Stating that the strength of a nation depended on the economic and development foundation, he appealed to the people of the range not to use the Think Tank Committee for political party politics but as a committee resolute in making productive policy to bring development and economic growth to the range.
Observing Asetkong range as a compact area, where every village has its own agri based economic environment, he urged them to focus on agri and allied sector to amplify economic growth in the range.
Informing that there are hundreds of schemes under the agri and allied sector, he urged the community to avail those opportunities to their advantage. He, however, cautioned against the mindset of just getting subsidies.
Also speaking at the programme, the president of Asetkong Mungdang, S Pangyang Ozukum, encouraged the public to learn good things from others to enhance productions.
The resources persons of the seminars were Meyasashi Longkumer, director of Horticulture; Dr. Sarendi Walling, assistance chief technical officer of Animal Science at KrishiVigyan Kendra, Mokokchung; and T Imlisunep Ao, principal of Industrial Training Institute, Mokokchung.
