Diphu, May 19 (EMN): The youths of Autonomous State Demand Committee (ASDC) and All Party Hill Leaders Conference (APHLC) are reportedly holding ‘ground-level’ talks to form a unified entity.

When Eastern Mirror contacted ASDC’s central committee in-charge general secretary Denial Teron on Wednesday to confirm the report, he stated, “We have the policy of unification among anti-BJP elements and pro-autonomy but particularly for APHLC we can name the party as pro-autonomy or not, we have not known yet; we have to assess on it because in 1969 during the creation of Meghalaya Autonomous state both APHLC and Congress had jointly betrayed to the hill people of Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao”.

Teron added that the ideology and principle of APHLC has to be assessed properly.

“The party is not a registered political party, but rather a non-governmental organisation. He went on to say that, there was no such debate on unification between ASDC and APHLC at the ASDC central committee level.

“Our President (Chandra Kanta Terang ) is also undergoing treatment at the hospital. Yes, few individuals vested interest has misdeeds (sic) but this is not the discussion of central committee level”, told Teron. On the other hand, APHLC spokesperson, Angtong Engti informed this newspaper that, ‘like-minded youths were on the process of discussion for unification of the party, but so far, there is no formal meeting on unification however, like-minded persons have started to mingle and we have started in a ground level’.
