ASA welcomes Kyrgyz wrestlers, other officials

DIMAPUR — The Angami Sports Association (ASA) accorded a warm welcome to Kyrgyzstan wrestlers Kadyr Kelsinbekov and Nursultan Bochonov, head coach of World Alysh Federation, Kanybek Shaidillaevich Abytov from Kyrgyzstan and Chandpashad Ahemdhusen Tamboli, senior vice president, AITWPF and vice president of Asian Belbogli Kurash Confederation, upon their arrival at Dimapur Airport on Friday.

The two Kyrgyz wrestlers will be participating in the upcoming 16th Hornbill International Naga Wrestling Championship 2023, organised by the Nagaland Wrestling Association (NWA) on December 4.

Naval Kishore, the International Referee UWW and member of Belt Wrestling Committee AITWPF, is expected to arrive in Nagaland on Dec. 2.

Interacting with media persons, the ASA president Lhoubeizo Kesiyie announced that after months of planning and correspondence, a first of its kind coaching camp on belt wrestling in India, is being facilitated by ASA for its wrestlers and the wrestling fraternity at large.

Kesiyie shared that the five delegates will oversee a coaching camp and referee clinic on International Belt Wrestling, organised by ASA in collaboration with World Alysh Federation, All India Traditional Wrestling and Pankration Federation and United World Wrestling, with an aim to enhance coaching techniques and referee skills, specifically for International Belt Wrestling.

He also informed the coaching camp and referee clinic are scheduled to take place on December 2 at the IG Stadium in Kohima, where all the technical aspects of belt wrestling will be discussed and demonstrated to the attending wrestlers and referees.

Kesiyie further informed that the four units under ASA – Northern Angami Sports Association, Southern Angami Sports Association, Western Angami Youth Organisation and Chakhro Youth Organisation – will send 20 wrestlers each for the coaching camp, while 10 participants from each unit will join the referee clinic.

The association has also extended invitation to Chakhesang Sports Association, Zeliang Wrestling Association, Chang Sports Association and Pochury Sports Association.
