Kohima, Jan. 30 : The Angami Sports Association (ASA) Golden Jubilee celebration will be held from February 14 to 18 at Kohima.
Over thousands of sports personalities from four units of ASA namely- NASA, SASA, WASA and CSA will compete in the following events athletics (Men and Women), Badminton (Men and Women), Table Tennis (Men and Women), Sepak Takraw (Men and Women), Volleyball (Men and Women), Football (Men), bamboo stilt walking and traditional Naga Style Wrestling (For men).
In a press statement, ASA games secretary Mhalelhou Mere informed that over 10 lakh rupees cash will be handed over to various winners in different games and sports events. The venue for the various events will be held at local ground, Kohima and Indoor stadium, Kohima.On February 14 at 9.00am, the jubilee monolith located near Old MLA complex will be unveiled and at 9.30 am the grand opening ceremony will be inaugurated by Neiphiu Rio, MP Lok Sabha and former chief minister of Nagaland at local ground, Kohima followed by the commencement of athletics events.
On February 15, 16 and 17, various competitions for men and women will be held at local ground, Kohima and Indoor stadium Kohima which will be graced by Angami legislators as “special Guest” on different days.
On February 18, Kiyanilie Peseyie, Minister for Social Welfare and Parliamentary Affairs will grace the traditional Naga Wrestling as the chief guest and in the evening, the guest of honour at the closing function will be Dr. Nicky Kire, Minister for Forest, environment and Climate Change.
The Marathon race route will be from Kohima Science College Jotsoma- PHQ junction-TCP Gate-Razhii Point-Tin Patti-DBS-BSF check gate-Seikhazou-Kitsubozou-Kohima local ground.
