
Dimapur, June 30 (EMN): A total of 246 recruits including 12 mahila (women) have successfully completed their training at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Shokhuvi. An attestation parade was held on June 29 following which they would be reporting for duty in different operational areas of the Northeast.
The attestation parade was commanded by Rifleman Gyaneshwor Y Singh, who also won the award of overall best recruit.
Brigadier Arjun Segan, DIG of ARTC&S, reviewed the parade. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasised upon the rich traditions of the Assam Rifles and the virtues of selfless service to the nation. He also complemented the passed out batch for their immaculate standards and enthusiasm.
The DIG highlighted that the Assam Rifles, as an oldest para-military force of the country, has a diversified roles which encompass provision of internal security and developmental assistance to the civil population. He added that ARTC&S has been nominated as a ‘Centre of Excellence’ for training in counter insurgency and jungle warfare and subsequently declared as the “Best training institute” at national level amongst all CAPFs by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The DIG also presented awards to the passing out recruits for their outstanding performance during training. The spectacular parade was witnessed by large audience which included the proud parents and family members of the recruits.
