Dimapur, April 20 (EMN):
An art exhibition dubbed as ‘Localise Expansion,’ organised by Dharmendra Prasad and Throngkiuba Yimchunger, was inaugurated at IMC hall by the administrator of Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC), Albert Ezung, on April 20. Organisers informed that the exhibition would continue till May 5.

Speaking on the occasion, Ezung acknowledged the two artists from Nagaland for venturing out to explore the possibilities where many people have failed in the past. He also thanked the proprietor of IMC hall for not only giving space but also providing a platform to talented artists to showcase and promote their work of arts in the society.

Ezung encouraged the artists to hone their talent and make use of the platform provided by Nagaland Art Centre.

Speaking on the occasion, coordinator of Eastern Art Council Myingthungo Ababe said that the art exhibition was the first of a kind held at Nagaland Art Centre (NAC). He informed that the exhibition was an attempt to explore the issues, possibilities and exploitation of land in relation to myopic human desire in the 21st century.

Ababe added that the main aim of the event was to provide a platform for the artists to showcase their creativity and also promote art in the society.

It may be mentioned  that the artists duo have attempted to delve into the local landscape: gentrification, urban sprawl and agricultural practices. The arts were made by using local materials like the vegetable pigments, historical photographs, objects, chemicals, sound, dialogue and oxygen found in the mother earth.

One of the arts depicted the biography of a field at Panghsa village that was made by using turmeric root, burn wood and bamboo, mud, paper, bamboo while the other arts were based on ‘once upon a time in Seithekima’.
