Around 200 benefit from free health camps in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR — Two-day awareness-cum-medical health camps were held on June 22 and 23 at Phushumi village under Akuluto block and Shoipu and Tukunasami villages under Satakha block in Zunheboto.

According to a press release, during the event at Phushumi village, Dr. N Mhonchan Kithan, District Programme Officer (NCD) Zhunheboto, delivered a health talk focusing on stroke, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, obesity, and preventive measures.

He emphasised the importance of regular health checkups, screening for blood pressure and blood sugar, and timely treatment. He also advised the community to adopt a healthy lifestyle, engage in more physical activity, and reduce their intake of common salt.

He added that promoting and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is crucial, stressing that “health is wealth.”

Ado from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP), Zunheboto, highlighted preventive measures and treatments for malaria, dengue, and Japanese encephalitis.

During the two-day programme, blood pressure check-ups, blood sugar tests, rapid diagnostic tests, and blood smear tests for malaria were conducted, benefiting around 200 people who availed themselves of the free health services.

The camp was attended by Dr. Mughakha, medical officer at VK PHC, NVBDCP staff, NLEP staff, Shoipu HWC staff, and ASHAs.
