Eastern Mirror Desk Dimapur, Nov. 4: An Assam Rifles personnel, Dhaklu Patil, who is one of the key accused in Army paper leak scam busted by the crime branch last year has been arrested from Nagaland, according to a report in Times of India. “The police said Patil is a serving jawan with the Assam Rifle in Nagaland and was absconding since the crime came to fore. The crime branch transferred him in the orders of magistrate court of Guwahati. This is the 25th arrest in the case,” it reported. The paper leak came to light in February last year when the examination was held, and led to the Army countermanding the exam at several centres. Then it was alleged that the army recruitment exam papers for the posts of technical and general duty and clerk for 52 centres were available for candidates to peruse through for three hours, all for a price between INR 2-5 lac. On Sunday, Times of India quoted a police officer as saying: “During interrogation, it came to light that one of the absconding accused Sagar Patil at Nagpur centre had refereed few candidates by (Dhaklu) Patil.” According to the report, Patil was also constantly in contact with an arrested accused who is the owner of the military’s Satara-based academy. “We have certain leads in the case and he shall be questioned for his role as well,” informed the officer.
