Dimapur, May 21 (EMN): As part of his ongoing visit to Spear Corps Zone, Lieutenant General, Abhay Krishna, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Command, undertook assessment of Assam Rifles operations along the Indo- Myanmar international border in Nagaland on May 20.
A defence release stated that General Abhay Krishna visited the forward Assam Rifles post at Lungwa as well as the Assam Rifles sector headquarters at Tuensang. At these locations, the General was briefed on ongoing operations by Assam Rifles commanders responsible for border management operations on the ground. The General also interacted with the locals of these areas during the visit.
The General was accompanied by Lieutenant General Gopal R, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps. It stated that the General has expressed satisfaction and congratulated the Assam Rifles for their hard work and operational acumen. The General departed for Kolkata on the same evening.
The scheduled visit of union defence minister, Nirmala Sitharaman, to the Spear Corps Zone, however could not be materialised due to unforeseen technical contingencies, the release added.
