ARCS Wokha conducts training for farmers in Okotso village
DIMAPUR — The Office of the Assistant Registrar, Co-operative Societies, (ARCS) Wokha, conducted training on post harvest skilling under Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY) 2023-2024, at Okotso village, on October 4.
In his keynote address, ARCS, Wokha, Obendangba said that the RKVY scheme, which was launched under the Ministry of Agriculture, is to impart training and provide capacity building programmes to farmers to come together through co-operative societies, a DIPR report stated.
Obendangba said that the RKVY also aims to foster self reliance and economic empowerment through public participation in agriculture and allied sectors as well as to empower the youth through skill development.
Speaking on ‘Management of co-operative society,’ SRCS, Wokha, T Alanthung Ngullie, emphasised on the democratic principles where every member has a voting right to elect a management committee to make decision to run their organisation effectively, and to ensure that financial interest and benefits of its members are protected by maintaining proper accounts.
Chief technical officer, (Extension) KVK, Wokha, Dr. BL Mhalo Tungoe, who spoke on ‘Pest and diseases management,’ said that pest and diseases are part of natural environmental system.

She stressed on exercising natural control over pests and giving priority to safety of people and environment and preserving soil health by avoiding use of man-made chemical products.
Maintaining balance between pests and predators also helps to keep pests and diseases down to acceptable level, Tungoe added.
Agricultural field assistant, P Yanrenthung Patton spoke on ‘Post harvest management’ and Chumlanthung Ngullie, banking assistant, NSCB Wokha, spoke on ‘Financial literacy.’ The programme was chaired by Vikethozo Kiso, ICS, Wokha.
