AR undertakes various civic action programmes

Public was explained that under ‘free move regime policy,’ citizens of India and Myanmar holding a valid border pass issued by competent authorities could enter and stay within 16 kms on either sides of the Indo-Myanmar border for a maximum period of fourteen days. They were also explained on rules and regulations of ‘free movement regime.’ Altogether 22 residents from Aken village and 32 village guards from Pungro attended the lecture. In a separate programme, Shamatore and Wokha battalions of the Assam Rifles have organised a free medical camp in Chessore under Tuensang district and Shakitong village under Wokha district on January 22 and 24 respectively. It stated that 366 patients including 93 male, 183 female and 90 children were examined and treated in Chessore, while 39 male, 64 female and 20 children were benefitted from the camp in Shakitong village. Besides the medical check-up, medicines were distributed to the ailing persons. Apart from medical assistance, basic awareness on good health and prevention of diseases was also imparted during the camps. The medical camps culminated with distribution of sport items and solar Lamps to the needy residents, the release added. In yet another programme, Zunheboto and Wokha battalions of the Assam Rifles conducted an interaction with village GBs in Aghunato town and Bhandari town on January 23 and 24 respectively. The aim of the interaction, according to the Assam Rifles, was to develop better understanding between the village functionaries and security forces to facilitate a peaceful environment in the region. It stated that 10 GBs from Aghunato and 20 GBs from Bhandari participated in the interaction programme.
