AR undertakes civic action programmes

Dimapur, June 26 (EMN): Mon battalion of the Assam Rifles distributed wheelchairs and hearing aids to persons with disabilities of Naginimora and adjacent villages of Mon district on June 25.

According to a defence release, the event was aimed at reaching out to persons with physical disability, who do not have access to medical treatment and cannot afford those equipment. While expressing gratitude to the Assam Rifles, the local residents stated that it has ensured the uplift of the differently-abled and their inclusion to mainstream.

The facilities were given away in the presence of officials from KU Naginimora, village council members, and family members of differently-abled persons.

In another programme, the Kiphire battalion of the Assam Rifles organised an interaction session with village elders at Limstang village in Kiphire district on June 25.

The programme was organised to create awareness on prevention from Covid-19 pandemic and encourage people to take vaccination. It added that sweets and chocolates were distributed to the children of the village.

Assam Rifles hoped that the initiatives undertaken to assist the locals would ensure a Covid-free environment and also instil good faith among locals.

Meanwhile, the Mokokchung battalion of the Assam Rifles assisted the District Hospital, Mokokchung, by donating blood in its bid to combat a shortfall of life saving blood for patients due to Covid-19 pandemic on June 23.

Acting at the behest of civil administration, it stated that the troops volunteered enthusiastically for a noble cause. It added that certificates were issued by hospital authorities to the soldiers.
