AR triumphs at Inter-CAPF debate competition

DIMAPUR — Assam Rifles emerged as the overall champion of the Northeast Zone Inter-CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) debate competition on human rights held at Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), Sukhovi, on October 12.

An update from the security forces stated that seven teams of NE-based CAPF namely BSF, CRPF, CISF, SSB, ITBP, RPF and Assam Rifles participated in the contest. The main aim of the debate was to sensitise on the importance of strict adherence to human rights while dealing with the public.

It stated that a total of 28 speakers debated on the topic in Hindi and English with 14 speakers each ‘for’ and ‘against’ the motion. After the stiff competition, Assam Rifles secured the first position and CISF secured the second position in the English language debate category, while the Assam Rifles secured the first position and CRPF secured the second position in the Hindi language category.

Brigadier Suresh Kumar Sheoran, commandant of ARTC&S, has appreciated the efforts put in by the participants and made a special reference to the efficient conduct of the event by the organizers. He also conveyed good wishes to prize-winning teams for the semi-final round of debate.

He further conveyed his personal thanks and appreciation to the five eminent judges for their valuable input and contributions.

It mentioned that the best teams in both English and Hindi categories namely Assam Rifles and CISF as well as CRPF have been selected to represent the North East Zone in the semi-finals of the Inter-CAPF debate competition.
