AR sponsors tour for GBs, village chairmen

The 6-sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters IGAR (North) flagged off an tour of 12 GBs and village council members from the interiors of Peren and Dimapur districts on February 24. The village leaders will be visiting Guwahati and Narangi for four days from February 24 to the 27th.
The aim of the tour is to increase awareness and give exposure to the GBs and village council members about the history, culture and developments in other parts of the country as also to expose them to the way of life outside Nagaland, the security force stated in a note issued on Wednesday. “Over a period of four days of their stay in Guwahati, these GBs/Village Council Members will visit various places of tourist interest such as St Joseph Church, State Zoo, State Museum, Guwahati town, ISKCON Temple, Narangi Cantt and a cruise of the mighty Brahmaputra. They will also interact with important dignitaries in Narangi Canton,” the Assam Rifles stated.
During the flagging off ceremony held at Kashiram Basti in Dimapur on February 24, the commander of the 6 Sector Assam Rifles interacted with the village leaders and conveyed best wishes to them.
“GBs/Village Council Members were very excited and keen about the forthcoming tour as some of them were boarding the train for the first time in their life,” the AR stated
In another event organized by the security force, the 46th Assam Rifles on February 22 conducted a medical camp in Hutsu under Phek district under a civic program. A medical team from the Assam Rifles comprising a doctor and medical staff conducted the camp. 178 patients were examined and medicines were distributed, the security force’s establishment informed on Wednesday. The Assam Rifles have assured to continuing rendering such laudable services to the people.
