AR refutes NSCN (Khango) allegations on ‘raid’

DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles has refuted the recent allegations made by the NSCN (Khango) against the 43 Assam Rifles regarding a ‘raid’ on the secretary, Ministry of Kilo (Home Affairs) of the group as “unfounded and misleading.”

In a press release, the PRO, IGAR (North), Kohima said that on receipt of credible intelligence inputs of presence of large number of armed cadres, a mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) was set up at Block V Junction, Thillixu village, on June 3.

During the check, an individual attempted to evade inspection and fled from the scene. However he was intercepted based on suspicious behaviour. On questioning, the individual identified himself to be a member of the faction and the self-styled home secretary of NSCN (Khango), it stated.

It also clarified that the search operations were conducted in strict compliance with established protocols, and the NSCN (Khango) cadre was later released following laid down protocols.

“The statements mentioned in the article against the Assam Rifles are totally baseless and unfounded. Assam Rifles reaffirms its commitment to carrying out its duties lawfully and ethically. Assam Rifles remains steadfast in its commitment to execute its mandate within legal frameworks,” the defence release added.
