AR reaches out to remote villages in Arunachal Pradesh

Dimapur, Jan. 5 (EMN): Khonsa battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a programme at Wakka village in Tirap district of Arunachal Pradesh to distribute beads for bead craft as a part of its civic action programme.

A defence release stated that beads were distributed to the women folk of the village in order to help them promote the tradition of the village. It would also act as an important source of income for the woman folk thereby promoting women empowerment.

Village authorities including the Raja and GB and the people of the village witnessed the event. It added that the villagers have thanked to Assam Rifles for undertaking the initiative to empower women and pave way to support themselves.

In a separate programme, the Changlang battalion of the Assam Rifles handed over two toilet blocks along with water tanks to Nakang village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh.

The toilet block was installed with an aim to provide a healthy and disease free environment to the villagers. It added that the village GB, village council members and others have appreciated the efforts undertakenby the Assam Rifles.

In yet another programme, the Longding battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a medical camp at Kamhua Noknu and Kamhua Noksa on January 4.

The medical camp was organised with an aim to provide free medical treatment to the residents who were devoid of basic medical amenities. It stated that a total of 350 patients were benefitted from the camp.
