Dimapur, Dec. 14 (EMN): Shamatore battalion of the Assam Rifles distributed winter clothing to under privileged children in Pangsha and New Pangsha villages under Noklak district on December 14.
A defence release stated that the team from Company Operating Base (COB) at Dan has made relentless endeavours to assist poverty stricken villagers in the area. In the efforts, they were able to reach out to few under privileged children, who are dire need of winter clothing for upcoming harsh winters. It added that it was one of the many goodwill measures taken up by team of CoB Dan in their area of its responsibility.
The release stated that the initiative and commitment of the Assam Rifles was highly appreciated by the residents.
In another programme, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles organised a National Interactive Tour (NIT) for the village school students of Mon district to the Air Force station in Jorhat, Assam, on December 13.
The team consisted of 13 students and two teachers witnessed the fighter aircrafts and visited Air Force School, where they were shown the prototypes of aircrafts and fighter aircraft simulators.
