AR organises tree plantation drive in Zunheboto

DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles under the aegis of its headquarters IGAR (North) organised a tree plantation drive at Church Colony in Zunheboto town on Friday.
The event was aimed at addressing deforestation concerns while promoting environmental consciousness and promote environmental awareness among scholars of Zunheboto Government College, an update stated.
Altogether, 50 students and 75 residents including members of Zunheboto town participated in the plantation drive. A total of 350 saplings were planted, emphasising the significance of community involvement.
In addition to the plantation drive, an informative session was conducted for the attendees about the crucial role of trees in combating climate change, preventing soil erosion, and sustaining the overall ecosystem.
In another programme, the Assam Rifles organised a felicitation ceremony to honour the courageous widows of Tuensang on Friday. The event was aimed at acknowledging the resilience and sacrifices of those remarkable women who have faced the loss of their loved ones.
In a heartfelt gesture of support, Assam Rifles presented essential supplies to each widow during the event. The essential items were offered as a token of appreciation and to provide some relief to those brave women who have endured significant hardships, stated a defence release.
