AR organises tour for older persons

Dimapur, Jan. 25 (EMN): Phek Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) had organised a national integration tour comprising of 30 elders from Thurutsuswumi village in Phek district to Delhi from January 10 to 21.
The tour was flagged off in Phek town on January 10 by the deputy commissioner, Phek. During the course of tour, the participants visited various cultural and historical places in Delhi including Rajghat, Jantar Mantar, Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, National Museum, Birla Mandir and Akshardham temple. They also had the privileged to meet the President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Rastrapati Bhawan.
The team returned to Phek on January 24 after 11 days, who were warmly received by the Assam Rifles personnel and locals. A flag in ceremony was organised in Phek wherein all elders shared their experience and recounted the benefits of the tour.
Commanding officer Phek battalion exhorted all the elders to share their knowledge and experience with youth to spread awareness about the importance of development and peace in the region and in making Nagaland a progressive state.
