AR organises motorcycle rally to commemorate Vijay Diwas

Assam Rifles personnel paying tributes to Capt (Late) N Kenguruse on the occasion of Kargil Diwas in Nerhema village on Friday.

DIMAPUR — Commemorating the 25th anniversary of Vijay Diwas, a day of great historical significance commemorating India’s victory in the Kargil conflict, the Assam Rifles (AR), in collaboration with motorcycle clubs and enthusiasts from Kohima, organised a motorcycle rally on Friday.

A defence release stated that the event saw enthusiastic participation from the Assam Rifles and the local community, symbolising a unified tribute to the valour and sacrifice of the Kargil heroes.

Brigadier JBS Rathi, Commander of 5 Sector Assam Rifles, who attended the event as the chief guest, highlighted the indomitable spirit of the Indian armed forces and the sacrifices made during the Kargil War.

“The freedom we cherish today is owed to the courage and dedication of our soldiers. Each breath of free air we take is a testament to their sacrifice,” Brigadier Rathi said.

Following the speech, the parents of Capt (Late) N Kenguruse, MVC , flagged off the rally, setting the stage for a journey steeped in patriotism and respect for the fallen heroes.

The rally covered a distance of 24 kilometers and culminated at the War Memorial of Captain Neikezhakuo Kenguruse in Nerhema village, where a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was organised in paying tribute to Captain Kenguruse.

Report stated that the civilian participants were felicitated by Brigadier JBS Rathi and his wife. Brigadier Rathi expressed gratitude for their spirit of adventure, patriotism and commitment towards national integration.

It further stated that the motorcycle rally not only served as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the Kargil conflict but also reinforced the enduring spirit of unity and patriotism among the citizens.
