DIMAPUR — In an effort to educate the youth on the necessity of soft skills development and provide job opportunities within the district, the Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the Kaziranga University and Peren District Skill Committee, organised a mega job awareness fair and career orientation programme at St. Xavier College in Jalukie town under Peren district on April 26.

A defence release stated that the job awareness fair for students from far-flung areas was conducted on the theme “Building youth for the nation.” It added that the participants have immensely benefitted from the event.

The event was inaugurated by Dr. Prabhat Kumar, DFO of Peren, in the presence of Bobby Roy, dean of Kaziranga University; Abhijeet Bhardwaj, manager of Kaziranga University and other dignitaries. It stated that the fair was organised with the sole objective of raising awareness on how various job opportunities across all platforms require not just educational qualifications but also refined soft skills where standards are rising on an everyday basis.

Report stated that several kiosks were set-up to highlight qualification requirements and skill-based training to generate awareness on sustainable entrepreneurship opportunities among the village communities. It stated that other agencies like Nagaland Tools and Training Centre (NTTC) and Pinnacle Skill Training Institute have set-up kiosks to enable young students avail the opportunity and seek career guidance.

It stated that the DFO of Peren, in his address, highlighted various skill development initiatives being undertaken by various authorities for local youth in order to benefit from such fairs.

During the event, Assam Rifles personnel briefed on various entry schemes in armed forces and shared valuable insights on how to develop and maintain the essential qualities to be nurtured for becoming a soldier.

The seminar and awareness campaign concluded with enthralling experience for youth, filling them with motivation, enthusiasm and healthy spirit of competition. A total of approximately 720 youth and students from colleges and schools in Peren district attended the fair.

Meanwhile, the district authority and youth have expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their efforts and innovative works in reaching out the young people in remote areas and assisting them to join the national mainstream by providing requisite awareness.

It mentioned that Assam Rifles have not only been restoring peace and tranquility in the insurgency ridden northeastern states of India but has also been instrumental in reaching out and extending all possible assistance to the minority and otherwise neglected strata of local populace located in remotest parts of the region to ensure overall uplift of the society and to take care of the deprived and needy.
