AR organises medical camps

Dimapur, Jan 30 (EMN): Troops of 28 Assam Rifles, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (N), conducted a medical camp in Chukitong village in Wokha district for the people of village and nearby areas on January 30.

A total of 232 people including 74 men, 107 women and 51 children ahve benefitted from the camp. Assistance was also provided by district administration for smooth conduct of the camp. Free medicines were provided to the villagers.

In addition, the people were also educated on topics like timely vaccination, personal hygiene and sanitation and AIDS awareness through a small lecture cum workshop on health and hygiene.

The medical camp brought much needed medical relief at the door steps of the village Chukitong and nearby areas. The villagers and civil administration have appreciated the efforts of the Assam Rifles and conveyed their heartfelt thank to the unit for organising the medical camp.

In a related programme, Troops of 7 Assam Rifles organised a medical camp and free health check-up in Pungro town for people of Pungro sub-division on January 29.

The initiative gathered immense response as 483 patients including 175 males, 206 females and 102 children were treated during the camp. In addition, 15 children were administered polio drops as it was also the day of Pulse Polio drive.

Local administration also rendered support with two civil doctors to attend the patients alongwith the Medical Officer of the Battalion. The district authorities, local NGOs and Pungro GBs’ Association have welcomed the initiative and expressed their gratitude for Assam Rifles.

Meanwhile, 9 Bihar, under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North) organised a medical camp at Aboi football ground, Mon district, on January 24.

A total of 250 patients were provided medical assistance by RMO 9 Bihar and medical staff. The aim of the camp was to support the needy and medically deprived section of the society.
