Imphal, Jan. 2 (EMN):
Troops of the Assam Rifles intercepted six Myanmar nationals on two wheelers plying illegally in the Indian territory at H Lhangcham along the Indo-Myanmar border, stated a defence release on December 30.

“At 2 am troops carrying out area domination observed some motorcycles moving in the area,” says PRO Assam Rifles(South) in a press release this evening.

“On being asked to stop, the riders abandoned the two wheelers and fled across into Myanmar taking advantage of darkness and thick foliage,” the release stated. On close observation, it was found that the two wheelers were carrying 30 litres of diesel and four cases of beer.

“The seized items along with the motorcycles were handed over to Customs Preventive Force, Moreh, for further legal action,” it stated.

On Monday evening around 7:30 pm, the Assam Rifles personnel intercepted a pickup van transporting illegal footwear in 17 bags containing 570 pair of illegal shoes worth over INR 8 lakh from Myanmar towards Imphal.
