AR nabs nine persons with liquor in Wokha

Dimapur, May 2 (EMN): Troops of 28 Assam Rifles confiscated huge cache of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) being smuggled into Nagaland from general area Doyang road on April 30, AR said in a delayed report.
The liquor was found hidden in two Mahindra Boleros bearing registration Nos. NL05C 2601 and NL02C 3248. A total of 1182 bottles Mc Dowell Rum, 1432 cans of Kingfisher beer, 144 bottles of Officers Choice whisky and 3 bottles Breezer, approx amounting to Rs 3 lakh rupees was seized during the operation.
A total of four persons including a women were apprehended in this connection. They were identified as Mrs Pni (34), resident of Chukitong village; Yanrosumthung (28), resident of Chukitong village; Susomo (46), resident of Wokha village; and Aifrig (40), resident of Lakhuti village. All the apprehended persons along with the illegal liquor were handed over to Sanis police station.
In another search operation by 28 AR in general area foothill road junction, Bhandari, on April 29, the troops seized IMFL being smuggled into Nagaland worth Rs 7,50,000. The liquor was found hidden in two vehicles bearing registration nos. NL05P 0404 (Tata Sumo) and NL05T 0251 (Bolero). Driver and co-passengers identified as Apenthung Lotha (28) of Lunying village; Y Lotha (38) of Wokha village; Thingchio (27) of Merapani; Lidemo Lotha (25) of Merapani; and Longshipemo (26) of Merapani were arrested.
A total of 1862 bottles of Mc Dowell Rum, 432 bottles of Officers Choice whisky, 456 cans of Kingfisher beer and 144 bottles of Vodka were seized. All apprehendees along with illegal liquor were handed over to Bhandari Police Station, AR release said.
