DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles, in collaboration with the department of Social Welfare, successfully conducted the “Break the Silence” campaign at Jawahar Navodaya School in Pfutsero on August 27.

A defence release stated that the campaign was focused on raising awareness about mental health and substance abuse, crucial issues affecting communities across the region.

It stated that their involvement brought significant visibility and engagement to the campaign.

The campaign, which began its first phase on August 12 in Kohima, has now progressed to Pfutsero. It aims to reach various communities across Nagaland.

Report stated that the campaign was dedicated to fostering open discussions about mental health, dispelling myths surrounding substance abuse and providing support to those in need.

It further stated that the Assam Rifles is committed to supporting the well-being of communities and proud to be part of the important effort to promote mental health awareness and combat substance abuse across Nagaland.

Similar programme was also held in Zunheboto town on Wednesday.

Speaking at the programme, the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, Rahul Bhanudas Mali, spoke on the necessity to address mental health and substance abuse in the society.

The commandant of Assam Rifles, Major Praveen, mentioned the need of such campaigns, while referring to the prevalence of substance abuse and mental health issues in both Nagaland and his homeland Punjab.

During the programme, the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan pledge (drug-free India) was also administered to the participants.
