The GPRN/NSCN (the outfit led by Khole and Kitovi) has accused the Assam Rifles of ‘frequent raids’ at its members’ residences.
In a statement, the outfit said it “is displeased with the frequent raids by the Assam Rifles at the residences of its members”. The GPRN/NSCN statement further alleged that a “lot have been said regarding the random raiding and tortures” meted to the members of the outfit and family “but nothing has been done from the end of the Assam Rifles to curb it”.
According to the statement, just recently, the Assam Rifles tortured the family members of Imyapanga Ao, the Deputy Kilonser of Law & Justice, GPRN/NSCN. “With no evidence but speculations of the kilonser possessing two.32 hand guns, the Assam Rifles raided the residence at 3:30 am for more than one and half hour, completely ransacking the house and properties, even going to the extent of checking the body of the Kilonser’s wife, which is an utter violation of the Ceasefire ground rules. Nothing was found, yet the search continued,” it alleged.
GPRN/NSCN then said that it has often voiced out on “these reckless and immature attitude” of the Assam Rifles, but to date, nothing has been done to mend their ways. “GPRN/NSCN is of the view that continuation of such raids and immature behaviour is not only an act of mocking the ceasefire ground rules, but also an act of provocation”, it added.
GPRN/NSCN then asked the concerned authorities to instruct and educate the personnel of Assam Rifles on the ceasefire ground rules.
