Assam Rifles flags in national integration tour in Kohima

KOHIMA — The Assam Rifles marked the conclusion of the ‘National Integration Tour’ organised for four colleges in Kohima under “Op Sadbhavna” upon their return to Nagaland from Delhi on Friday.

A group of 20 students from Kohima Science College, Sazolie College, Oriental College and Kohima College visited Dehradun, Ranikhet, Nainital and national capital before returning to the state capital.

The tour commenced from Kohima on February 3 spanning 13 days, wherein the team visited the Indian Military Academy (IMA), Forest Research Institute (FRI), Kumaon and Naga Regimental Centre (KRC) in Nainital, as well as Bhimtal, Red Fort, Lotus Temple, Qutub Minar, the World Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan and a cultural extravaganza at Delhi Haat in the national capital.

The students were also offered opportunity to interact with Lieutenant General (Retired) Gurmit Singh, the governor of Uttarakhand, as well as with the commandants of the Indian Military Academy (IMA).

The participants were officially welcomed by the Kohima battalion of Assam Rifles, operating under the supervision of HQ 5 Sect Assam Rifles/ Inspector General Assam Rifles (IGAR) North .

The ceremonial flagging in of the tour was presided over by Major General Vikas Lakhera, IGAR (North) at the Kohima Garrison of IGAR . In his address, the IGAR exhorted the students to take active part in future tours.
