Assam Rifles distributes sports items and computers to villages

DIMAPUR — The Assam Rifles (AR), under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North), distributed four computers, fifty volleyball, fifty footballs, ten volleyball nets and fifty plastic chairs to the villagers of twenty six villages of Peren district at Tening town on February 14.

Recognising the importance of holistic development, the initiative was aimed at promoting physical fitness and enhance access to digital education among the villagers, stated a DIPR report.

The distribution event held in Tening town was attended by 185 villagers from various villages under Tening sub-division and was met with overwhelming enthusiasm from villagers, who eagerly welcomed the support provided by the Assam Rifles.

By equipping communities with those resources, it stated that Assam Rifles reaffirmed its commitment to fostering inclusive growth and nurturing talent among the youth in the region. It added that the initiative would not only bridge the digital divide but also fosters a culture of sportsmanship and learning.

It stated that all the village councils and villagers have expressed gratitude to the Assam Rifles for their generosity and charitable work in helping out the poor and needy people in remote areas.

Report further stated that Assam Rifles have not only been restoring peace and tranquility in the insurgency ridden north eastern states of India but has also been instrumental in reaching out and extending all possible assistance to the minority and otherwise neglected strata of local populace located in remotest parts of the region to ensure overall development.
