AR continues with civic action programmes
Dimapur, April 21 (EMN): Mon battalion of the Assam Rifles organised an Ex-Servicemen (ESM) rally for Army and Assam Rifles in Mon and Naginimora on April 16 and 17. The rally was organised with an aim to provide platform for interaction and resolve any issue faced by the veterans.
Assam Rifles press release stated that grievances from Ex-servicemen regarding their pension and allowances were noted and assured redressal at the earliest. The event was attended by 60 ESM along with 28 dependants.
The same battalion also installed a solar street light in Chui village and handed it over to the residents on April 16. During the event, the battalion also organised a friendly football match in Naginimora with an aim to encourage the youth to proactively engage in outdoor activities for overall growth.
Mon battalion of the Assam Rifles also conducted a weapon display at Navodaya Government School, Chenwetnyu, and Chenmoho Mountain School, Chenmoho, on April 18.
The programme was conducted with an aim to motivate youth to join the security forces. Career counseling was also organised to enable the students opt for a profession based on their interest. Altogether 34 students and six teachers witnessed the weapon display.
In a separate programme, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles participated in the 46th anniversary celebration of the Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home along with the staff and children on April 16.
A medical team of Kohima battalion also carried out medical check-up for the children and staff and further provided necessary medicines to the orphanage.
Phek battalion of the Assam Rifles also distributed free school uniforms and stationery items to the students studying in Avangkhu Government Primary School on April 16.
Altogether, 25 students along with their parents were present during the distribution programme. A lecture was also conducted wherein the students were encouraged to make the most of the education facility to build a better future for themselves and the society.
In yet another programme, Jalukie battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture for the students of All Saints School on the occasion of the ‘World Heritage Day’ on April 18.
During the programme, students were briefed about different destinations and monuments which are unique in their characteristics and that which carries historical values. They were also informed about various heritage sites in the Northeast such as Dzukuo valley in Nagaland, Kaziranga National Park in Assam and the Tawang Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh. Altogether, four teachers and 73 students participated in the lecture.
