DIMAPUR — With an aim to provide firsthand experience and a deeper understanding of modern weaponry, the Assam Rifles recently organised a weapon display for National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets in Wokha.
The weapon display showcased a variety of arms and equipment used by the armed forces, giving the cadets an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the tools crucial for national security, stated a defence release.
It mentioned that the interactive session allowed cadets to gain practical insights and ask questions, enhancing their knowledge and sparking their interest.
In another programme, the Assam Rifles also organised a day with the company commander for students of Ebenezer High School in Selouphe village under Dimapur district on July 5.
The programme featured a variety of activities such as lecture, singing session with the jazz band, screening of the Assam Rifles movie, games such as tug of war, musical chairs and balloon shooting.
The aim was to strengthen the relationship between the Assam Rifles and the youth. The event was attended by 34 students and five teachers.
Meanwhile, in an effort to promote peace and harmony in the region and to develop a sense of security among the local populace, the Assam Rifles conducted a security meeting in Chenmoho village under Mon district on July 5.
A defence release stated that issues relating to security in the area, sharing of information for any untoward incidents, coordination and convergence on the issues of mutual interest between security forces and public were discussed.
Besides, the participants were also informed about various job opportunities and recruitment in the armed forces, various projects undertaken in the area and to avail the max benefits of the medical facilities.
It stated that the local residents have appreciated the gesture of Assam Rifles and expressed their willingness to maintain close liaison with the security forces. They have also expressed gratitude for the efforts to ensure peace and tranquility in the area.
Representatives from five villages surrounding Chenmoho attended the meeting.
