Dimapur, Feb. 5 (EMN): Dimapur battalion of the Assam Rifles conducted a lecture on ‘Job opportunities in the armed forces and career guidance’ at Zakiesato Memorial Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, on February 4.
The lecture was organised to inform about the upcoming recruitment rallies of army/ CAPF and the interviews for tourism and hotel management course under Skill Development Institute, Guwahati.
The students were assured of all information by Recruitment Cell of Dimapur battalion. Altogether 63 students including 24 girls from Classes X, XI and XII standards attended the lecture. Ten staff members including the principal were also present during the lecture.
In a separate programme, Wokha battalion of the Assam Rifles has conducted lecture on government schemes on the theme of ‘Education for progression’ at COB, Tseminyu town, on February 5.
The aim of the lecture, according to the Assam Rifles, was to emphasis on pursuing higher education for a bright future and also for the development of community, village and society.
During the lecture, details of various schemes and employment avenues for the younger generation were discussed and shared for general awareness of the students and the local people. Altogether, 55 local youth of Tseminyu region attended the lecture.
In another programme, Medziphema battalion of the Assam Rifles has conducted an awareness programme for women, children and youth of Medziphema and surrounding villages in Molvom village on January 30.
The aim of the awareness programme, according to the Assam Rifles, was to bring out the importance of education to the children and their parents/ elders and to ensure minimal dropout of children from schools.
The villagers were informed about the upcoming Territorial Army recruitment rally in Phek with effect from February 26 to March 2 and the Army recruitment rally being conducted at Rangapahar, Dimapur, from April 3 to 6.
The locals were also apprised of the upcoming training being provided to the youth by the battalion at Ghaspani beginning from February 1 to March 15.
In a separate programme, Kohima battalion of the Assam Rifles organised an interaction with Ex-Servicemen (ESM) in its battalion headquarter, Kohima, on January 31.
During interaction, various policies of central and state government schemes were also briefed. The interaction was followed by refreshment and lunch with all Ex-servicemen and their families. Altogether 46 Ex-servicemen and their families attended the interaction session.
Meanwhile, Tuensang battalion of the Assam Rifles also conducted a medical camp in Yanching village under Longleng district on January 31.
The aim of the medical camp was to provide free medical treatment to local residents of remote areas devoid of requisite medical facilities.
A defence release stated that a medical team under two officers treated 147 patients including 83 male, 46 female, and 18 children. It added that medicines were provided to the ailing.
Apart from the medical assistance, basic awareness on epidemic diseases including precautions was also imparted to the public, the release added.
