DIMAPUR — The 28 Assam Rifles conducted an anti-drug awareness campaign at Tuensang public ground on Thursday with Miss Nagaland 2022, Hikali Achumi, as the special guest.
Speaking at the programme, Achumi has appreciated the Assam Rifles for serving as a beacon of hope in the fight against drugs and for maintaining order in the state. While emphasising on the destructive impact of drug addiction on the present generation, she stated that it not only harms the body but also destroys families and societies, stated a DIPR report.
She urged the gathering to raise their voices against drug addiction, particularly within the Naga society. She further highlighted the prevalence of addiction issues in every family and stressed the importance of the younger generation to resist the lure of drugs.
The welcome address was delivered by Major Neeraj Goswami, while an invocation prayer was said by Rev. Sangkap, pastor of TTBL. Cultural dances wre performed by CWS and TVSU, while a special appearance was made by the Saramati Sisters and the Jazz band from 28 Assam Rifles.
Dr. Senilo from District Hospital, Tuensang, delivered a lecture on drug awareness and the vote of thanks was delivered by Brigadier Vikram Singh, DIG of 7 Sector Assam Rifles.
The function saw attendance of representatives from various organisations including Kripa Foundation Nagaland, civil societies and students in Tuensang town.
Report further stated that an anti-drug pledge was administered to all the participants and concluded with a bike rally organised by the Free Bikers Tuensang.
