AR celebrates Vijay Diwas at St Xavier’s School in Jalukie

DIMAPUR — Commemorating Kargil Vijay Diwas, the Assam Rifles organised an event at St Xavier’s School, Jalukie on July 26, in honour of their alumnus, Captain (Late) N Kengruse, MVC  (P), who sacrificed his life for the nation during the Kargil War.

The event was attended by students, faculty and a team from Assam Rifles. The day began with a wreath laying ceremony at the bust of Capt (Late) N Kenguruse, followed by prayer and a moment of silence to pay tribute to all the brave hearts who laid down their lives in service of the nation, an update stated.

The event also featured a special tribute by the Pipe Band of Assam Rifles who played patriotic and inspirational tunes in memory of all the bravehearts who gave the supreme sacrifice fighting in Kargil.

“This event organised by Assam Rifles will serve as a permanent reminder of the sacrifice and a source of inspiration for the entire school community,” it stated.

The event concluded with a friendly basketball match organised between Assam Rifles and Students from St Xavier’s School, as a mark of tribute to the passion of late Kenguruse towards sports.

The match, held in the school’s basketball ground, was attended by students, faculty and personnel from Assam Rifles. The basketball match showcased the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship between the Assam Rifles team and the school’s basketball team.

Both teams played with enthusiasm and determination, making the game an exciting and memorable event for all spectators, symbolising the unity and respect between the armed forces and the student community.

“Kargil Vijay Diwas at St Xavier’s School was a poignant reminder of the valorous and sacrifices of the Indian Armed Forces, instilling a sense of patriotism and respect for the country among the students and attendees,” it added.
