Dimapur, May 22 (EMN): Basing on specific information regarding extortion by cadres of NSCN (K) Aung Yung faction, Kohima Battalion of Assam Rifles arrested four persons from Teenpatti area in Kohima on May 17.
The accused were identified as Zhusichu Pfithu, Hutsu village in Phek district, Thepeng Pochury of Akhegwo village in Phek district, Achichu Pfithu of Hutsu village in Phek district, and Zhankhim Zimtsegwo of Akhegwo village in Phek district.
They were arrested during Mobile Vehicle Check Post (MVCP) while travelling in a vehicle bearing Registration No. NL-01T 9454.
Assam Rifles personnel recovered one 7.65 mm pistol (Made in USA), one magazine, one illegal extortion slip NSCN (K) amounting to INR 30,000 and cash amount of INR 12,400 from their possession.
Based on information provided by Zhusichu Pfithu and Thepeng Pochury, a follow on operation was launched along with two police representative of North Police Station, Kohima, in general area Teenpatti on May 18, the troops recovered one illegal extortion slip of NSCN (K) amounting to INR 20,000.
It stated that the accused persons along with all recovered items have been handed over to North Police Station, Kohima, for further investigation.
