DIMAPUR, OCTOBER 5

The Anti-Power Theft Mobile Squad (APTMS) remaining true to its mission raided some pockets of town in the last two days and “caught” eight defaulters in the process. The mobile squad was constituted in the month of August this year to crackdown on rampant power theft in the commercial hub of Dimapur. All the offenders, including some business establishments, are from the DC Court area, Church Road and Duncan Basti. They were caught using electricity without proper connection by the APTMS team.
The types of offence include meter by-pass, hooking and direct AC connection. The raids were conducted under the SDO (Electrical) Sub-Division No-111 and SDO (Electrical) Sub-Division No-1.
The APTMS was launched in the month of July “to curb the menace of rampant power theft and tampering with power network.” It comes with the strength of one platoon of armed police personnel headed by a deputy superintendent.
