KOHIMA — The Yhoshü Resource Centre (YRC) in Kigwema Village, Kohima district, was inaugurated on Tuesday with Samir Ashta, Director of Finance and CFO, Apraava Energy, as the inaugural guest.
It was informed that YRC Kigwema Village is a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project funded by Apraava Energy and implemented by the Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS).
Sobu Yhoshü, convenor of YRC management board, said that YRC features a futsal court, a community hall, a boy’s dormitory, a kitchen and a dining hall.
He said that in the future, they anticipate adding a park linked to gardens, orchards and farming plots alongside poultry farming operations and a fully functional hostel.
He also said that the project has delivered livelihood benefits through construction jobs for local communities, and they are confident that fully operationalising YRC will empower the region, fostering self-reliance and contributing to nation building in the years ahead.
Rev. Chingmak Chang, secretary of ECS, also spoke on how the project started and acknowledged the support of the villagers from the beginning.

He said that there are different activities in the centre, and their larger vision is to register them as a trust or company so that the project will grow, adding that he hopes the partnership will continue to grow.
He also stressed on the importance of community cooperation to make the centre grow into something even bigger and more successful.
Role of Apraava as a facilitator
Samir Ashta said that the project is an effort from all across and that if the villagers had not taken the initiative to give the land, it would not have been what it is today.
Apraava is only a medium to reach the objectives, he said.
He asked the villagers to protect the environment, which is very important in the days forward, and encouraged them to plant more trees.
He also reminded that after some years the centre needs to be self-sufficient.
As a person from a finance background, he also volunteered that he is ready to work with the team to train them on the concept of finance.
Priyesh Modi, CSR head, highlighted that the project will evolve over time and more features will be added to the centre.
He said they want students’ enrolment to happen quickly so that deserving students can get enrolled to utilise the facilities and skills they have to offer.
He also said that they want to install solar energy in the centre to support the facility and will look to make the place greener with more plantations.
He added that they are planning to introduce the Apraava scholarships for the YTC students.
Deepa Sebastian, CHRO, also mentioned that the vision of Apraava is to enable the country’s transformation towards a sustainable future and that they believe in creating powerful communities.
“We are deeply committed to ensuring to empower the women and girls community so we hope that centre will enrol more girl students”, she said.
Jacob Khomeze Mera, chairman, Kigwema Village Council, extended gratitude to Apraava Energy and ECS for bringing the transformative initiative to their doorstep and investing meaningfully in their people’s future.
He stated that the resource centre project arrives at a pivotal moment, perfectly timed to address society’s growing needs for education, skills, and opportunity.
